Circle Details

Monona ARC hosts weekly gatherings for six weeks, known as a "circle". Each circle includes two facilitators and 8-12 community members. Over the course of six weeks, we will discuss racism as a system, whiteness as an identity, white privilege and fragility, and touch on topics from housing to education to policing. As much as possible, we will center and ground our exploration of these topics as they affect and shape our community life here in Monona.  Participants share, investigate and make plans to act to make Monona a better place.

Each week focuses on a different topic:

Week 1: Community Building

Week 2: Basic Concepts

Week 3: Housing in Monona, Then & Now

Week 4: Policing in Monona: Problems & Progress

Week 5: Education in Monona

Week 6: Rippling out to action: Commitments & Next Steps
